Ableforth's Bathtub Gin

Founded in 2011, Ableforth’s was created by three friends who simply wanted to make distinctively delicious drinks that they would enjoy themselves - be that a gin, a rum or other treats. They took some inspiration from the past, from styles of drink known for flavors which were robust, fresh and unusual, and created a range of really bloody tasty spirits.

Inspired by the ‘bathtub gins’ of the 1920s, where illicit gin was concocted in bathtubs, the founders created a gin using the traditional process of cold compounding.  Put simply compounding is just infusing; in their case, a neutral, existing London Dry Gin with the most fragrant botanicals. But that's not all.  They then took a portion of this gin and painstakingly infused it with six additional botanicals, such as juniper, coriander, orange peel, cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom, in very small batches, a painstakingly process which takes a whole week. 

This infusion process allows those fresh botanical flavors – too delicate to survive traditional distillation – to shine through, and Bathtub Gin is left with its unique flavor and distinctive hue.

Bathtub Gin is one of the most awarded gins in the industry, having won over 40 awards in the last 5 years.

 
Taste: Juniper again leads, but there’s plenty more besides. The mouthfeel is thick and creamy whilst the cloves, coriander and cardamom offer depth.
