WhistlePig FarmStock Rye Whiskey Crop No. 1
FarmStock is the limited edition release that WhistlePig fans have been waiting for. It is the first release from this Vermont distiller that contains whiskey made on premise. 1 to 2 year old Vermont rye whiskey blended with 5 year Canadian and 12 year Indiana juice, marks a brave new world for WhistlePig. The three are blended in the following proportion: 20%, 49% and 31% respectively, and bottled at 86 proof.
BourbonBlog.com got a great interview with the founder, which can be found here.
Tom Fischer, bourbon expert and founder of BourbonBlog.com, had these tasting notes to share on his site:
NOSE: Freshly dumped barrel aroma and warehouse characteristics.
TASTE: The entry is zesty rye and youthful rye notes. Some citrus and stone fruits which become crème brûlée. Cinnamon and vanilla are also apparent. There is a flavor journey with definite levels tasting the youth, age and harmony of all the ages on FarmStock.
Similar to the 10-year-old WhistelPig and other expressions, there is a definite degree of elegant flavor.
FINISH: Medium linger. Creamy dark chocolate with orange zest against tobacco.
