Conniption Kinship Gin
Conniption Kinship Gin is a contemporary gin created from Durham Distillery’s pioneering dual distillation technique which is then naturally infused with butterfly pea flowers. Kinship begins with a vapor-distilled botanical base of juniper, Indian coriander, angelica root, licorice root and dried bitter orange. Then, delicate botanicals of freshly peeled, ripe cucumbers, fresh orange and lemon peels, and lightly floral honeysuckle flowers are distilled into “vodka” using Durham’s cold distillation methods. These spirits are then blended together before they are proofed down with pure distilled and deionized water. The final step is a touch of artful magic. The natural infusion of butterfly pea flowers results in turning the gin a beautiful indigo hue.
Aroma, Tasting and Finish
Nose is fresh lemon and orange with lovely notes of piney-juniper and sweet honeysuckle. On the palate, the upfront notes of juniper, coriander, bitter orange and spiced cardamom lengthen into a mid-palate of floral and citrus from the honeysuckle and cold distilled lemon and orange peel. Cucumber, licorice root and citrus add a fresh and slightly sweet finish.
Recommended Cocktails
A work of art in themselves, cocktails with Conniption Kinship Gin shifts color from indigo to shades of blue and pink with citrus. Try it in a French 75, gimlet or bees knees!
About Conniption Gins
Leading the U.S. Gin Renaissance Bringing gin into the modernity, Conniption gins were the first in the U.S. to introduce a cold distillation technique with rotary evaporators. By focusing on delicate botanicals whose flavors are destroyed by heat, the cold vacuum results in authentic, complex and fresh flavors.
