Breaking Bourbon x Barrell Single Barrel Rum
Breaking Bourbon Single Barrel Club pick #19 "Come Together" is a special custom bourbon drinker's Barrell Rum blend that was selected and then finished for 3 months in Breaking Bourbon's #13 "Weekend" Barrell Bourbon barrel. The composition is a blend of rums from Barbados, Jamaica, Martinique, and Guyana with the largest component, Barbados Rum, making up 60% of the final ratio and the second largest component being Jamaican Rum.
Bottles from this barrel are first being offered exclusively to Breaking Bourbon Patreon supporters. The name “Come Together” is a representation of people’s need to join together in the fight and helping one another through this COVID-19 Coronavirus crisis - though just to be clear we DO NOT mean that in literal terms considering the social distancing aspect of keeping yourself and those around you safe!
This is a charity bottle. For every bottle purchased by a Patreon supporter, Breaking Bourbon is donating $5 to charities selected by Patreon supporters. Incidentally, after an exact tie, donations will be split 50/50 between No Child Hungry and the United States Bartenders Guild (USBG) Foundation.
Graciously, both Barrell Craft Spirits and Mash&Grape have offered to match Breaking Bourbon's donation!
We hope to inspire others to participate and donate as well. Anyone interested can learn more here.
Tasting Notes
On the nose, sweet gingerbread combines with maple sugar candy and lightly toasted marshmallows. A touch of leather teases in the background. A spicy pop touches down on the tongue, with graham crackers, maple sugar candy, and dark fruit swirling in. Light smoke, creme brulee sweetness, and a hint of butterscotch follow. It finishes with a warming heat emphasized by dark fruit and raisins. The sweetness lingers, leaving behind a delicate brown sugar aftertaste. Clocking in at a whopping 130 proof, this bourbon drinker’s rum is dangerously easy to drink.
