El Libertador Malbec 2011
Revolution Wines is devoted to the notion that the expression of place (or terroir) is an important pursuit in winemaking, and furthermore, that the vineyards surrounding & within Sacramento are more than worthy of being expressed.
Revolution's winemaker, Craig Haarmeyer, describes their winemaking mantra as "vineyard-to-table" and believes that in winemaking there should be as little interference possible from the winemakers in order to allow the terroir to shine through. Craig works closely with their vineyard managers, using only the highest quality fruit from the very best sites. They pick at lower Brix with high natural acidity, ferment the wines dry, and mature them in approximately 90% neutral oak barrels in order to produce complex, food-friendly wines.
This Malbec shows delicate violets flowers, mature prune and blue berries aromas. Rich and full bodied wine, presents flavors of black fruit mixed with subtle notes of white peper. Structure tannins and a touch of vanilla and mocha, takes this wine to a long and smooth finish.
