Nikka Whisky was established in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, the first Japanese to ever study the art of whisky production. He built the company's first distillery in Yoichi, Hokkaido, a location which he had always considered to be ideal for whisky production, similar in many ways to the Scottish town where he had studied. Miyagikyo, Nikka's second distillery, was built in 1969 in Sendai, Honshu, another pristine location perfectly suited to whisky production.

Located at the northern part of mainland Japan, Miyagikyo distillery is completely enclosed by mountains and it is at the junction of two clean rivers. Miyagikyo's clean water, suitable humidity, crisp air and the steam-heated distillation at low temperature produces soft and mild malt. Nikka Whisky "Miyagikyo" 12 Year Old Japanese Single Malt Whisky is aged primarily in bourbon barrels and sherry butts, with some new American oak casks. The result is a full-bodied, fruity and complex spirit, distinguished by a harmony of the aroma of aged casks with sweet hints of vanilla and gentle peat. The soft taste is elegantly deepened by a sweet and tangy fruitiness, leading up to a long, structured finish.

We ship via a common carrier such as Fedex or UPS Ground to all states in the continental US (with some exceptions, below). An adult over the age of 21 with a valid ID must be present to receive the package, per alcohol laws. Packages cannot be left on stoops or doorways. Shipping takes 3-5 business days to most states.

This item cannot ship to Alabama, Arkansas, Michigan, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont.

Returns Policy

We can only accept the return of defective or damaged goods with proof of the defect or damage. In such instances we will offer a replacement of the same item (subject to availability), refund the credit card used to purchase the item, or issue a store credit for the amount that was paid for the item. We cannot accept returns of items that have been opened already.

Shipping and handling costs are non-refundable.
