Martell Blue Swift Cognac
Martell has been shipping its cognac to the United States since 1783, but this is the first time they have sent us cognac that has finished aging in ex-bourbon casks. The subtle and nuanced notes of plums and rich red fruits that are always present in a good bottle of Martell are now accompanied with a lovely hint of vanilla and toasty oak from the bourbon barrels. We think it’s a delicious combination, and one that might convince bourbon drinkers to gain an appreciation of cognac and vice-versa. The blue swift is a bird that can fly for days, traversing continents and oceans with as much panache as this delicious spirit.
