Westland 'Garryana' 2018 Edition American Single Malt
Westland distillery takes its cues from the grand tradition of Scotland, but sources its raw materials from the Pacific Northwest. This is the third release of the Native Oak series, a groundbreaking project that uses Quercus Garryana, a species of white oak from the region around Seattle for its barrels. Only 1,683 bottles of this expression will be released for the 2018 edition. The mash bill consists of heavily peated malted barely from Washington, and in addition to the spirit aged in Garryana barrels there is a percentage aged in ex-port, ex-bourbon, and refilled ex-Westland casks, resulting in a balanced and original dram with totally unique oak flavor and a smokey finish.
