Ichiro's Malt Chichibu 'Port Pipe'
An extremely hard to find bottling from Chichibu distillery! Ichiro Akuto, the founder of Chichibu and the grand son of the Hanyu Distillery founder, has made a strong name for himself producing surprisingly complex whiskies at relatively younger ages. This bottling is part of a small 618 bottle run in 2016.
Almost pink in color, this is a single malt that was first aged in oak casks and then matured in Port Pipes (massive 650 liter European casks used for the maturation of Port Wine) and finally bottled at 62.4% ABV to produce a whiskey that shows a lot of fruity notes on the nose and citrus and fruit on the palate. Complex yet light, this has a long finish with hints of honey at the end.
